It’s in the nature of things that expressions of the Soul are abstract truths. These expressions are what I am seeking in a piece of work. I guess it’s the discovery of this quality that would make the piece Fine Art. For me the expression of these things would be the function of a painting. Involving human energies, and alterations in consciousness. I have always endeavored to make true statements. That would be the primary impulse. The clarification of this purpose is the story of the development of my work.

My response to the canvas has always been immediate and intuitive.
Learning how not to interfere with freedom has been a lifelong training. Learning how to make room for the miraculous is a work in progress.

As an artist, I find I have to take a step backwards from Art to remind myself that freedom of expression is an essential to civilisation, and that freedom of the imagination follows. Concepts of art always seem to distract me from these simplicities. Freedom of the imagination and realisation of the spirit is central to my excitement and inspiration.

When the heart is open, there is Life, with its' grief and joy, with happiness in a great depth of sadness. There is the reaching out for contact in infinity and the knowledge of already being in touch from the inside. The most tender thing can be the most powerful force on earth, words and concepts melt away into meaninglessness in the face of emotional knowledge..
